The business was founded in 1979, originally trading as Five Ways Software Limited. The initial focus, in the pre-PC days, was largely Educational Software. Much of the initial software to enter schools, colleges and universities under the then DES funded microelectronics in education programme (MEP) was developed by Five Ways. As an early entrant into the market, we were able to amass skills and knowledge about how people learn using interactive technology.

After the advent of the PC, and its increasing use in both Government and Commercial enterprises, the focus switched to the effective application of technology to the training and education of Adults in the workplace. We were able to apply our skills learnt in the Educational market to the creation of attractive, interesting and effective training, not just page turning in electronic books.
